Planning Your Trip

When planning your trip you want to make sure you manage your money and time wisely to best enjoy your time in Ireland. You want to start planning and saving months in advance so you have enough time and money to get everything you want to do into your schedule. It is important to make sure you do your research to see what is going on in Dublin at the time of your stay, and make sure you pick out which attractions you want to visit once you get there

First, you should do the most important thing and book your flight and hotel. After doing some research you will find it is most often cheaper to book your flight and hotel together. United is a great airline to fly with as well as Ryanair, but look at other airlines to make sure you find the cheapest prices. If you are looking to stay in a hotel, The North Star Hotel is a great place to look into, they have cheap shuttles that take can take you to and from the airport, a great staff, and it is a reasonable price.  If you are budging and are looking for a Hostel, you are in luck! Dublin has dozens of hostels for reasonable prices. After you have booked a flight and a place to stay, you can then start looking into attractions that are nearby and different day trips you might be interested in taking. Look into the Dublin pass if you are planning on doing a lot of sight seeing. It allows you entrance in to the Guinness Storehouse, The Old Jameson Distillery, The Dublin Zoo, The James Joyce Center, and so many more. However, this does not include your transportation around the city. Look into getting a Dublin Bus Tour pass or a Leap card. The Dublin Bus Pass will take you too and from all the attractions that you can getting into with your Dublin Pass. The Leap card allows you to put money on it so you can hop on and off all Dublin bus services, all Luas Services, and Commuter Rail services that go  through Dublin. If you are looking into taking any day trips, the Paddy Wagon offers different tours all around Ireland. If you are looking to book your day trip(s) ahead of time you can visit the Paddy Wagon Tours website and set up your trip there, or wait until you get to Dublin and find the Paddy Wagon Store on Abbey Street. The Paddy Wagon also is a hostel if you are looking for a cheap place to stay.

  1. I think that you give a lot of good information here for planning a trip to Ireland and saving money while doing it. One question that I have though is where is do you get the Dublin Pass, Dublin Bus Tour Pass, and/or the Leap Pass from? Can you get them from your hotel or do you need to go to the city's tourist center (assuming they have one, which I believe most major cities do)?
